R.Y. BRITANNIA, negative
¾ Starboard bow view of R.Y. BRITANNIA. Watermans Boat taking line also in image.
The Royal Yacht Britannia arriving at Cardiff in the summer of 1969, bringing Prince Charles to Wales in the year of his investiture. This 3,990 ton vessel was built on the Clyde in 1953 and is the most recent in a long line of royal yachts dating back to the reign of Charles II. The Britannia can be converted to a naval hospital ship should the need arise, but she has never been used for this purpose.
