BAWDEN, Edward (1903-1989)
Tile, square, white earthenware body with large white grit inclusions, cream coloured glaze with brown speckles extending over front face and edges, the reverse moulded with with a pattern of cross-hatches to enable mortar to adhere to the surface; hand-decorated over the glaze in a simple, stylised manner in green and black enamels, at the bottom left are two waved lines in green, representing the sea, the rest of the tile is decorated in black with a view of the factory, comprising two smoking kilns and a tall chimney.
