Iron Age / Roman copper alloy tankard handle
About half a cast copper alloy tankard handle with a rectangular terminal plate decorated in each corner with raised petal motif. At the base of the handle is a moulded lip, similar to that seen on examples from Hod Hill and Welwyn examples (Corcoran 1952, Pl. X) but otherwise there are few similarities. Above this the handle diverges suggesting the main part of the handle would have incorporated an openwork design.
