Maenofferen slate quarry, slide
Collection of slides forming lecture "Rails in the Slate Industry" by D.R. Geering, UMIST 3rd year Mechanical Engineering Projects, c.1975 (copy of lecture notes in related material).
The locomotive can be seen in the distance. The slope of the roof, the underside of the stratum of rock overlying the slate, shows the angle of dip of the slate bed. The brown stains are indicative of the presence of copper.
