Roman copper alloy bow brooch
The lower half of a bow brooch with a small knobbed foot and pierced catchplate. There are slight moulded flanges running down the leg of the bow from the point where the catchplate begins to be drawn out. Above the point the back of the bow is hollow giving an almost crescentic cross-section. The piercing of the catch-plate, though crude, probably indicates a date of manufacture before the beginning of the second century.
