Ceremonial truncheon believed by donor to have been awarded by either the Chief Magistrate or Chief Constable of Monmouth to the vendor's father, a Captain in the Welch Regiment who was involved in quelling riots in Risca in the winter of 1893-4
Wooden truncheon. Main body painted black with crown, letters V R and a panel containing the letters M.C. painted in gold, red and green. Handgrip is ribbed and unpainted.
