Four pages of typed notes titled 'The Transition from Sail to Steam', specifically referring to Barquantine AGAMEMNON, ship TORRENS, and topsail schooner EDITH ELEANOR. Stapled.
S.S. AGAMEMNON. Built in 1865 (of iron), by Scott and Company, Greenock. Built to trade to China round Cape of Good Hope. The propeller is three-bladed, left handed screw, abaft and rudder. Measurements: 309.3 x 38.8 x 28.4 feet.
Schooner EDITH ELEANOR (105gt). Completed in ten months in 1881 by J. Warrell & Co., Aberystwyth for D.C. Roberts & Co., Aberystwyth. She was sold in 1917 and re-registered at Wexford, Ireland. She was employed in home waters. Foundered about 80 miles north west of the Longships in July 1921.
