Woollen canvas ground, embroidered with coloured silks in cross, stem, satin and flat stitches. Border of floral stems and rising from basket, with lengthy religious verse. Flowers tied with ribbon at top. On the backing board is the following note: 'Mary Dudden were 12 Years of age when this Sampler were worked, and some part of it by moonlight'.
