Casgliadau Arlein

Pot-lid, earthenware, circular shape with cylindrical flange and flat top; the upperside of the lid decorated with an underglaze polychrome transfer-print of 'Snap-dragon' (although this title is not recorded on the lid), showing an interior setting with a group of children crowded around a table on which is placed a smoking bowl, two older figures watch over the scene, to one side is a window through which the moon can be seen, to the top of the print is the inscription "IV / L / R Rd. 12 / 2" printed within a diamond shape within a picture frame, the print enclosed by a narrow circular dotted border. A brownish discolouration to the glaze, the glaze crazed.
