Jug, earthenware, standing on a spreading pedestal foot, bulbous body composed of six convex panels separated by vertical incised lines, tapering inwards at the shoulder, cylindrical neck flaring slightly to the mouth, the lip-rim waved, wide shovel-shaped spout, bands of moulded anthemions to the foot-rim, shoulder, lip-rim and spout, high loop handle with raised foliate moulded thumb-spur and further foliate moulding along its length, the lower terminal divided into two foliate moulded prongs; transfer-printed in blue with to the body an Italianate scene showing to one side a church-like with a castellated tower and to the other side a monopteros, between the two buildings are two figures, in the foreground are a number of flowers and foliage, in the background a landscape of trees, buildings and hills, border to the interior and exterior neck and spout of elaborate scrolls enclosing sprays of flowers and foliage interspersed with further flowers and foliage on a stippled blue ground, serrated and looped ribbon border to the foot-rim, dentil border to the shoulder, running border of flowers and foliage to the handle.
