Brass foundry owned by Philip Jenkins, negative
Copy negative of a photographic print showing a group of six workmen outside a brass foundry owned by Philip Jenkins. The men are holding tools of their trades - from left, saw probably denotes patternmaker, a hammer may denote fitter, a wooden bearing pattern may denote patternmaker or moulder (this man may possibly be the proprietor?), an uncertain small tool may be a moulder’s tool, and no tools may denote a labourer – this man is the only one in shirt sleeves and not wearing a waistcoat, a hammer may denote a fitter. On floor next to leg of man on right is a moulder’s sand sieve. At centre foreground is a wooden pattern for a large brass bearing.
