Letter from Hugh [?]owles (Wimbledon, S.W.19) to Dr Cyril Fox in which he mentions "... a treatise [in his possession] on mechanics published in 1758, [which] contains a diagramatic plate of a fulling mill, the motive power being supplied by a horse walking round and round. Two beaters are shown ... Another illustration shows " a mill for iron work" (splitting, plate, and clipping mills) driven by water power". [1930]
