Memorandum
A memorandum thanking Dinorwig Quarry staff for their courteous behaviour during a visit by HRH Princess Margaret and the Earl of Snowdon to Dinorwig Quarry. The memorandum has been written by T.E.O. Williams, Managing Director of the quarry, on behalf of himself and Sir Michael Duff, owner of Dinorwig Quarry. In the memorandum T.E.O. Williams states that the publicity given to the event in the national press would be beneficial to the company, and the slate industry as a whole.
This memorandum was sent to Mr Owen William Humphreys, a steward at Dinorwig Quarry. He started working at the quarry when he was 14 years old, at Ponc Pendiffwys. In 1946 he became a quarry steward at Ponc Isaf Braich. He was then moved to Muriau (or Lower Wellington as that section of the quarry was also known), and then to the section of the quarry known as Lower Garrett. He remained a quarry steward until August 1969 when Dinorwig Quarry closed.
