Roman samian bowl, decorated
Two fragments consisting of the base and wall of the same vessel. (For the second fragment, see S112) A winding scroll (with double line), the concavity of which is intersected horizontally and vertically by rows of astragali. In the field a "conventionalised dolphin", a motif which sometimes occurs as an ovolo border (cf.O. & P., xxix, 4 and S 94). Seven-beaded rosettes in the field. Porous paste and lustre-less brick-red glaze.
