Casgliadau Arlein

Oval in section, detachable fitted lid, slightly convex. A circular magnifying glass has been let into the centre of the lid, within a brass surround. Dark brown tortoiseshell japan to exterior of lid, upper surface only, similarly applied to underside of base. Remaining surfaces, both internal and external, japanned black. Inscription surrounding glass to lid much worn.
