Casgliadau Arlein

Deep maroon crepe evening dress by Schaparelli, summer 1938 collection. Worn by Mrs W. Phillips, Cathedral Road, Cardiff. The dress was purchased in London.

Short sleeves with shoulder pads. Plain V neck. Front zip fastener. Small peplum at waist; sleeves, dress and peplum trimmed with gold wire and pink beaded braid and tassels (some damaged/missing). Fabric belt with braid fastening. Long slim skirt with nine tucks at front waist. Original train removed by local dressmaker. Label damaged by dry cleaning according to donor.
