Coffee jug, hard-paste porcelain with white translucency, clear glaze, missing cover, pear shaped body rising to plain rim wiped clean of glaze and beak-shaped spout, slightly concave base with no foot rim that is also wiped clean of glaze, the moulded handle issuing from the side shoulder at a right angle to the spout, the form is of a slight 'S' curve with asymmetrical terminal and some gadrooning to the left side; moulded scrolls and scale patterns beneath and around rim and lip, including a cornucopian beneath the spout, also framing two asymmetrical cartouches to each side of the body, each painted in polychrome enamels over the glaze, to one side is a scene of two hens and a cockerel in a rural landscape with river and tower to the left, to the opposite side a scene with two ducks and a riverbank, with buildings in the distance to the left, enamelled floral sprigs around the body, gilded beneath the rim and spout, with moulded details picked out in gilt at the handle and cartouches.
