Casgliadau Arlein

Within two pillared niches, under a double trefoiled and crocketed canopy, dext. St. Paul with book and sword, sin. St Peter with book and key. Background diapered lozengy with diminutive quatrefoils. To either side of the canopy, dext. a crescent, sin. a star; foliage in field. In base, under a rounded carved arch, an abbot with with staff at prayer, between the initials, R.G. (for Richard of Gainsborough, abbot: 1318-42; in whose time the matrix was eengraved).
