Heavy moulded oak base on four rounded brass-plated feet, supporting two wide single-grooved uprights. Complete set of pine quills held in position by plain, flat horizontal bar, locked tightly over uprights. Short length of tape threaded around quills.
starched wt linen or cotton was threaded through the spills and dried by the fire. The frame could then be carefully dismantled.
