Sugar box, hard-paste porcelain, octagonal, standing on a foot rim, squat, octagonal body with bulging sides, domed, moulded cover with pagoda-shaped finial; sides decorated in polychrome enamels and gilt with four continuous scenes, one of a chinoiserie figure kneeling, attending to flowers, one of a chinoiserie figure seated before a table holding a bag in two hands, one of a chinoiserie figure seated on the ground between two tables, one of two chinoiserie figures, one standing bent over before a table, the other a child, fence behind, gilt border to rim and shoulders, cover decorated with two scenes, one of a chinoiserie figure kneeling before a kettle holding a cup, the other of two figures seated opposite a table, one holding a cup, within a gilt border, iron-red geometric border with yellow and purple decoration, a purple geometric border, gilt border to rim.
