Meat platter, earthenware, oblong shape with eight sides, flat base with two vertical curving feet at one end, the other end swelling outwards, curving sides and spreading rim, the well moulded with incised lines resembling the veins on a leaf, one end of the well dipping downwards where the base swells out, a very slightly raised edge to the well, eight notches and lobes to the rim; transfer-printed in blue with to the centre of the well the 'Castled Gatehouse' pattern, dominating the scene a castle gateway with twin towers under which two figures pass, in the foreground are further figures and cattle, to one side of the gateway a bridge crosses over a moat, trees and bushes are to both sides of the scene, the scene enclosed within a narrow circular dentilled border, wide elaborare border to the rim and extending down the sides of the well of ornate scrolls, flower heads, fleur-de-lys and garlanded foliage all on a blue ground, the platter cracked and repaired.
