Teapot and cover
Teapot, beige-brown coloured caneware (dry-bodied stoneware), standing on a rounded foot-rim, globular body, vertical lip-rim with inner flange, the edge of the lip-rim waved, short straight spout, high loop handle, the body moulded and stamped with embossed, to either side of the body a large central inset lobed panel flanked by two smaller inset panels surrounded by moulded scrolling foliage and flower heads, to the centre of each central panel a raised elaborate urn, to the centre of each smaller panel three raised stylized flower heads, a band of moulded concentric circles to the rim, foliate moulding to the base of the spout and radiating out from it onto the sides of the body, foliate moulding along the length of the handle with spreading foliate moulding to the upper and lower terminals, the cover oval-shaped and domed, a flower head finial to the centre of the cover, a pierced steam hole to one side of the cover, the cover moulded with embossed stylized flower heads and foliage, moulded leaves radiate out from the finial; the moulded flower heads and some of the foliate moulding overpainted in blue and red, green bands around the moulded panels, the moulded urns overpainted in gilt, blue bands to the foot-rim and shoulder and around the lip of the spout and the handle, the flower head finial painted in blue and red, the exterior of the teapot unglazed, the interior of the teapot and underside of the cover covered with a mottled brown glaze.
