Casgliadau Arlein

An unknown pipe clay object that has baffled Mark. It could be part of a pipeclay figurine - a fragment of a conical section with an external diameter tapering from 6 to 4cm. The thickness of the clay varies from 9.5mm to 5.5mm. The pipeclay seems to have been moulded around an inner form, with lipping of the clay surviving at the narrower end, suggesting a former join with another part or a base. The outer surface is decorated with rouletted lines of triangle impressions, the lines uniformerly 3.6mm apart. One row of rouletting at the wider end of the cone has triangles pointing in the directionof the wider end. The other 9 rows of rouletting have triangles that all point to the narrower end. The traingles are 0.35mm and are spaced 0.35mm apart. At the time of writing (2025) no parallel examples have been identified.
