Recordiad sain / Audio recording: Gennaro Autiero
Oral history recording with Gennaro Autiero who was born in Naples in 1931 and moved to Wales in 1956. Part 2 of 4 (AV 11342 - AV 11345). Recorded as part of the Italian Memories in Wales project (2008-10), delivered by ACLI-ENAIP and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
00.08 Gennaro continues to talk about the Neapolitan dialect, which resembles Spanish. He describes the bay of Naples and recalls socialising on the passegiata (walking with groups of friends in the bay) or in coffee bars yet socialising was more family orientated with small parties organised in family homes. He still has one friend who he speaks to on the phone, he recalls their times together and that presentation was very important. He was brought up as Catholic and still is.
