Obverse. The King enthroned, wearing a girdled dress, high ruff and cloak, over a fur tippet the collar of St George (Birch); his left hand holds an orb topped by a small cross, his right a sceptre flory; his feet rest on a decorative, stepped and projecting curved platform. The upper part of the back of the throne is finely scalloped, two semi-nude figures support the crown-shaped canopy, which bears a shield (arms indistinct) held by two recumbent angels, beyond whom are two eagles displayed; ensigned with a crown, and encircled by the the Garter. To either side of throne, dext. a lion sejant crowned supports a lance flag charged with the cross of St George; sin. a unicorn reguardant, gorged with a coronet, bears a like flag displaying the cross of St Andrew.
