Early Medieval human remains
These are well preserved but largely disartuculated remains from the inhumation burial of an adult who sex can't be determined.
The burial is from Phase C: 401-659 AD
SK138 and SK139 were buried in the same context (1606). The excavator found the bones of two separate individuals mixed together. They theorised that the bones could have been mixed while being transferred to make way for other burials. (1606) is near the centre of the Bronze Age burial mound and so in a very busy location for burials.
SK138 and SK139's skulls have been separated however excavators couldn't distinguish which of the other bones belonged to which individual. They were therefore bagged together and labelled as belonging to either individual.
SK139 doesn't appear in the Human Osteology Report catalogue, but is described in the original site context sheets for (1606).
