John Jones was Governor of Beaumaris Jail from 1849, when he moved from Liverpool Borough Jail, until his death in 1869.
The donor remembered John Jones' sister, who had worked at the jail as "wardress" and was known locally as "Miss Jones y Jail"
The donor believed the handcuffs may have been used in the arrest of Richard Rowlands, who was hanged on 4th April 1962, one of only two prisoners executed at Beaumaris
Pair of 'D' pattern handcuffs with hinged barrel locks, joined together by a chain. Key missing
