Chambers, William South Wales Pottery (1839 - 1855)
Platter, earthenware, oblong shape with flat base, curving sides and spreading rim, a raised edge to the well, eight notches and lobes to the rim; transfer-printed in blue with the 'Damask border' pattern, to the centre of the well a scene showing two figures standing in an Italianate landscape with trees, an aquaduct, a distant village and mountains, to the rim a wide border with a watered blue ground between a band of small scrolls and a band of foliate scrolls enclosing small panels with figures and animals. Several large chips to the rim, a crack extends down the rim and across the base.
