Teapot and cover
Teapot, prominent throwing lines in interior, moulded spout, soft paste porcelain, low transluscency, blue grey glaze, black spotting in patches on base and around junctions of spout, handles and finial with body. Conventional Oriental shape: high footring, bellied form, simple strap handle, plain spout, high neck, domed cover with a flat edge overhanging the neck, high mushroom shaped finial. Painted underglaze in a grey/blue cobalt, with an Orientally inspired landscape of round rocks, cottages and bamboo and foliage on right and water and boat? on left, overpainted in red enamel and gilding. Design repeated on opposite side of pot,lattice band around neck, gilt seaweed on back of handle, flower and foliage under spout, lid painted with further foliage rocks and cottages.
