Early Medieval copper alloy fitting
Shallow domed cover, with a central perforation apparently punched out from underneath, and ornamented with irregularly-disposed radial grooves which seem to have been executed by striking the upper side with a chisel. Alcocks closest parallels, which are by no means absolute, come from the cemetary at Sleaford, Lincs; and date this object to the 6th Century.
