Hard-paste porcelain dessert plate, the centre decorated with a circular transfer-print in brown of Addington Place, Surry, simplified from an engraving by William Watts (1752-1851) after John Carter (1748-1817). In the foreground an untopographical river with boat, probably added to the printing plate in place of an inscription, framed within a plain gilt border; the cavetto with a broader gilt band slightly rubbed, the rim transfer printed in green with continuous vignettes of hunting and travel between gilt borders. Nb. inaccurate inscriptions on the reverse
