Baby walk
Baby walker
This is a baby-walker dating to the late 1800s. Simple wooden walking frames for infants have been recorded since medieval times. Some believed that children should stand upright from an early age and that crawling was seen as animalistic. They would have also been a way of keeping the child safe in homes that were full of dangers; open fires, dimly-lit rooms and stairs, hard floors and dirt. Baby-walkers are still considered a controversial piece of childcare equipment. Many parents use baby walkers as a safe place to leave a small child while many child-care experts believe they have no development benefits and are a danger to children. What do you think?
