Mug, pale cream-coloured earthenware with a soft yellow tinge to the glaze, slightly flaring foot-rim, cylindrical sides with engine-turned banding to the upper and lower body, grooved loop handle, the front of the exterior body ornamented with an applied medallion portrait of the head and shoulders of a male figure, to either side of the medallion are applied festooned ribbons bearing the embossed inscription "ADMIRAL RODNEY"; the exterior sides covered with a ground of orange slip between the engine-turned banding, the applied ornament overpainted with a wash of green enamel. The foot-rim chipped, several small cracks to the lower body, slight chipping to the lip-rim.
