Caernarfon blanket
Wool blanket in red and grey jacquard weave. The centrepiece features Caernarfon Castle.
The donor writes 'The bed cover originally belonged to my great grandparents, Mr and Mrs Richard John Fox from Denbigh, North Wales. They owned a bakery and confectioners in the main street and they passed away in the late 1890s when the bed cover passed on to my grandfather, Mr Robert Fox. He died in 1930 and my mother Mrs Ethel Martin nee Fox, used it on our beds when we were children. Around 30 years ago it became very frayed on the side that would have been used at the head of the bed and I cut it straight and added a grey binding to try and preserve it a little longer. The original binding was much wider and made of the same red wool as used in the blanket'.
