Pot-lid, earthenware, circular shape with cylindrical flange and convex top; the upperside of the lid decorated with an underglaze polychrome transfer-print of 'The Chin-Chew River', showing a river battle with a European sailing ship on choppy water with Chinese ships beyond and cannon firing on the banks, around the bottom of the scene is the inscription "THE CHIN-CHEW RIVER", the scene enclosed by a circular brown band. The glaze crazed.
