Box and windlass type; oak bench on 4 splayed legs, supporting vertical rectangular frame; deal box hoisted within frame by means of 2 ropes on an oak windlass parallel with the top cross-bar; windlass worked by 2 iron pegs thrust through holes and box held in position as pegs 'lock' against the cross-bar; it seems that deal box, top cross-bar and iron pegs are not original.
