Large Teletubby soft toy based on the character Po, late 1990s. Teletubbies was first aired in 1997 on the CBBC slot for children.
Since the 1950s, many of the most popular toys and games in Wales have been inspired by iconic BBC children’s television programmes.
Teletubby made from red synthetic fabric. Looped 'antenna' attached to crown of head. Inner ears made from pale brown synthetic fabric. Rectangular section at centre front chest made from blue texturised plastic material with a coating that gives it an iridescent effect. Face made from pale brown moulded plastic. Details printed on in black and beige. Self-closing eye mechanism: eyes are black, brown, white and beige. Soles of feet made from grey synthetic fabric. Dots of grey plastic are adhered to the soles at regular intervals. Palms of hands made from different type of red fabric. Stitching in red thread to delineate fingers. Interior of toy is padded with soft filling. Vertical red plastic zip with metal handle at centre back. It suggests that the toy may at one point have had a voice box. Inner recess lined with white tabby woven fabric. White printed label held in rear seam joining left leg to body.
