Late Bronze Age bronze casting jet
Casting jet - South Wales Type socketed axe
Four runner casting jet, semi-circular in shape with a rough and uneven and slightly domed top surface. Central and irregularly shaped perforation through top surface. Jet tapers inwards in profile with slightly concave curve to form near circular underside. On under surface an semi-circular shaped doming (concave sides) leads to thinning of reservoir at centre, to a point of perforation through top surface. Runners removed near to base of reservoir, leaving two short projecting stumps and two negative scars. Green and dark grey-green patina.
