Casgliadau Arlein

Round smock-frock in navy blue linen. Embroidered with white glazed linen thread. Square flap collars, no fastening, no pockets. Two button opening at cuffs (button missing). The smocking stitches are cable, double wave and outline. The embroidery designs in front and back boxes and the yokes are of hearts, coils, and stylized flowers, outlined in feather. The collar has a linear and wavy design done in feather. Some alterations at shoulders. From a collection from Monmouthshire, but provenance unknown.
