ECM: Llangenydd; slab cross (replica)
A fragment of the shaft of what was probably a disc-headed slab-cross; widening towards the base, probably half its original thickness. The face, between plain angle mouldings, is filled with continuous mixed interlace in low relief, based on 22-strand plaitwork and consisting of twelve horizontal rows each of five knots, forms A, B and F. being represented; there are irregular breaks, including a central cruciform break in the seventh row, and closed-circuit figure-of-eight devices in the bottom three rows. The pattern would presumably have merged into the design of a cross-head of disc type.
