Costume; flannel; charcoal grey flecked with white. Trimmed with bands of brown velvet and with jet fringe. Fitted bodice, with long fitted sleeves. Round neckline, no collar. Front fastened by set of 12 hook and eye fasteners. 12 metal buttons as ornamentation, painted purple and decorated with moulded head of the young Queen Victoria. Floor length pleated underskirt. Skirt tucked, with added fullness at back for bustle. 1870.
