Dessert dish, soft-paste porcelain, boat-shaped with spreading pedestal foot and high spreading curving sides, the sides fluted and moulded into convex panels, scalloped edge to the rim; painted in underglaze blue, bright polychrome enamels and gilt with a Japanese-style decoration, to the centre of the well four stylized oriental flower heads in red, blue and gilt, the sides divided into four panels, two with a design of concentric circles in purple, two with a lattice work pattern in green and gilt, red and gilt motifs to either side of each panel, to the centre of each panel is reserved a further panel enclosed within a blue and gilt border, to the centre of two of these panels is a stylized spray of flowers, to the centre of the other two is a stylized animal with a feathery tail, to the exterior sides of the dish alternating panels of foliage and flower heads, border to the foot-rim of scrolling red lines between two blue bands, a blue circle to the base.
