Teapot and cover
Teapot, bone china, oval shape with inset base and bulbous sides, the lip-rim flaring outwards and extending to a prominent guard-like lobe above the spout, curving spout with a moulded leaf to the top of the spout, high loop handle with a moulded leaf to the shoulder, the upper terminal composed of three lobes which spread across the body of the teapot, three smaller lobes to the lower terminal, oval domed cover with a flower head finial, a pierced steam hole to one side of the cover; transfer-printed in red with to the sides of the body Chinese-style mythical four-legged beasts with staring eyes, fangs, horn-like ears, prominent backbones, feathery tails and clawed feet, scrolling red banners surround some of the beasts, the same beasts to the cover, gilt petals around the base of the spout, a gilt edge to the lip of the spout, stylized gilt foliage and a gilt edge to the handle, a gilt edge to the lip-rim and to the rim of the cover.
