Jug, earthenware, standing on a round spreading waisted foot, a band of moulded anthemions to the foot-rim, bulbous body composed of six convex panels sloping inwards at the shoulder, cylindrical neck flaring slightly to the mouth, wide shovel-like spout, bands of moulded anthemions to the shoulder and the exterior lip-rim and spout, high loop handle with raised thumb-spur and foliate moulding along its length, the upper terminal moulded with foliate scrolls; transfer-printed in dark grey with to the exterior body an Italianate scene showing a church-like building with a castellated tower to one side and to the other side a monopteros, a small figure stands between the two buildings, in the foreground a number of flowers and foliage, in the background a landscape with buildings and hills, wide border to the interior and exterior neck and spout of flowers, foliage and scrolls on a stippled dark grey ground, narrow dentilled borders to the foot-rim, shoulder and interior and exterior lip-rim and spout, border of flowers and foliage to the handle.
