Tureen, cover and stand
Tureen, cover and stand, hard-paste porcelian, tureen oval shape, standing on a flat base, bulging sides, two applied handles each moulded with two cornucopiae with scallop shells between and foliate terminals, domed cover, finial broken off (a foot remains), applied foliate decoration, wave edge, six moulded scallop shells at intervals on rim of tureen with the same in mirror-image on cover; decorated in polychrome enamels and gilt, on each side with a rococo reserve, one containing two exotic birds perching on a tree in a landscape, the other with two birds, one purple bird on ground, one pink bird with blue feathers in a tree, each surrounded by a gilt cartouche with patterning and scroll work, border of diagonal, parallel, purple lines and gilt dots with gilt outline borders to rim and lip, handles painted. Cover decroated with two scenes, each of an exotic birds in a tree in a landscape, both surrounded by rococo gilt scroll cartouches, two flower sprays with a purple rose and blue and brown flowers inbetween, border to match tureen to rim. Stand, oval, standing on a foot rim, spreading sides, shaped edge, rim moulded into eight lobes; decorated in polychrome enamels, the centre with two exotic birds in a landscape, one with mainly red feathers perching on a branch, the other with a red body and purple wings in flight, rocks in foreground, trees in distance, surrounded by an oval gilt cartouche with scrolling and patternwork and purple highlighting, gilt scroll border with purple highlighting to inner edge of rim, four bouquets of flowers to rim with roses and purple, blue, orange and yellow flowers, border of parallel, purple lines and gilt dots with gilt ouline borders to edge.
