Plate, pale buff coloured earthenware, circular shape with inset base within a flattened-off foot-rim, curving sides and spreading rim; covered all over with a white tin-glaze, this then painted in blue with to the centre of the well a coat of arms consisting of a central shield divided into four panels, two of which contain chevrons and roses, and the other two bees, this is surrounded by a larger shield-shape with banded panels and small sprigs resembling three crossed swords, the whole enclosed within an elaborate cartouche of rococo scrolls and foliage, border to the sides of the well of a Chinese-style lattice-work pattern interspersed with stylized flower heads, the same pattern repeated to the outer rim in panels which alternate with panels of scrolls and flower heads on a dark blue ground, the rim chipped in places.
