Cup and cover
Standing cup and cover, silver, the interior gilt, standing on a moulded circular foot with a beaded rim below an embossed and chased band of wave scrolls and florets on a matted ground, trumpet stem, oviform body, applied on each side with an oval plaque, cast in relief with putti, one comprising a putto attacking another, prone, to the consternation of two flanking figures, the other depicting four putti, three of them recumbent, devouring grapes, also engraved below the rim on one side '11 Novr 1786', two large loop handles realistically modelled as entwined snakes; tall cover with beaded rim below a band of wave moulding and florets as on the foot curving to a domed top and oval leaf-bound finial; the foot and cover engraved with a coat of arms, sable, a lion rampant between three scaling ladders or, and a crest, a demi-lion rampant holding a scaling ladder.
