Bowl, broth, cover and stand
Broth bowl, buff coloured earthenware, circular shape, standing on a tapering foot-rim, rounded curving sides, twin horizontal handles with acanthus leaf moulded curving tops and spreading foliate moulded terminals, circular domed cover rising to a disk shaped finial; transfer-printed in black with to the interior bottom of the bowl a small scene of a female figure assisting a small child to ride upon a dog against a garden landscape, groups of flowers, foliage, scrolls and small exotic birds to the exterior sides of the bowl, border to the exterior lip-rim of an entwining ribbon against a fence-like pattern, interspersed with small groups of flowers and foliage, the same border to the interior lip-rim but also issuing sprays of flowers and foliage which spread down the interior sides of the bowl, sprays of flowers and foliage to the handles, to the top of the cover the same small scene as to the interior bottom of the bowl, groups of flowers, foliage, scrolls and small exotic birds to the sides of the cover, border to the rim of the cover as to the exterior lip-rim of the bowl, to the finial a small exotic bird perched on an elaborate scroll. Stand, buff coloured earthenware, circular shape, standing on a tapering foot-rim, curving spreading sides; transfer-printed in black with to the centre of the well a group of small Chinese figures and a number of stylized oriental buildings composed of scrolls, a number of large flower heads to the foreground of the scene, border of small stars around the edge of the well, to the interior sides of the stand a wide border of flowers, foliage and scrolls on a stippled black ground issuing feathery foliage which spreads down the sides towards the well.
