Casgliadau Arlein

Plate, earthenware, circular shape with inwardly slanting foot-rim, curving sides and spreading rim, a slightly raised edge to the well, eight notches and lobes to the rim; transfer-printed in blue with the 'Ladies of Llangollen' pattern, two female figures on horseback are to one side of the scene with a male figure in the foreground, two cows in a stream are to the other side, against a rural landscape of hills, trees, a village and a castle, the scene enclosed within a narrow border of stylized star-like shapes, a wide border to the rim of festooned flowers and foliage interspersed with stylized spiders' webs issuing garlands of flowers and foliage against a blue ground surmounted by a narrow border of stylized flower petals.
