Part 5 of 5 (AV 11352 - 11356).Recorded as part of the Italian Memories in Wales project (2008-10), delivered by ACLI-ENAIP and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
00.01 Enzo travelled throughout Europe, and then returned to Britain. He met his wife in Cardiff; he was twenty, she was sixteen, they married after two weeks. They tried living in Italy but moved to Hammersmith after a year and their son Joe was born. They couldn’t settle and so moved to Wales. He continues to talk about the family values of Italian culture; his son Joe is very protective over his children. His children had an Italian upbringing and keep that alive in their families. 10.23 Enzo stresses that doesn’t try to teach his children Italian culture- he has lived it with them instead, and has always lived near them. He talks of their love of Italian sport; he and his son are very competitive, he sees that as an Italian trait. He has a sense of pride for his achievements in Wales and is proud that he has made the Calzaghe name known.
